Bengaluru:

Traffic flow near Majestic may get more chaotic for nearly a month as a portion of Gubbi Thotadappa Road, from Shantala Circle to Sangolli Rayanna Circle (towards KSR Railway station), has been closed for whitetopping work. In its notification, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) said that the whitetopping work on the 580-metre stretch began on Saturday and will be completed by December 18.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police have been struggling with the traffic congestions near the area. The Gubbi Thotadappa Road had reportedly been in a bad shape since the civic officials had removed the tar and left the loose aggregates on the road while patching up several potholes during the recent Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the city.

The Prime Minister had come to the KSR city railway station to flag off the high-speed Vande Bharat Express to Chennai. Initially it was said that he would be using Gubbi Thotadappa road to enter the station, and it was dug up to be asphalted. However, the plan was later dropped and it was decided that Modi will enter the station through the back gate, or the second entry.

The civic officials dolled up that particular stretch and ignored Gubbi Thotadappa road that was in a damaged state. The road is a nightmare for two-wheeler riders, as it is full of gravel and loose soil. When the road was initially dug up, the local residents and daily commuters were happy that the road would be finally fixed after a span of three years. However, their joy was short-lived after the civic body changed its plans in the eleventh hour.
