Private financier attacked by man posing as cop

A private financier was allegedly attacked by an unidentified person posing as a police officer near Jayanagar in the city. The incident reportedly took place on Monday evening when the victim, Santosh Kumar Patil, 35, had gone for a walk around 6 pm.
An unidentified person approached Patil and introduced himself as a police officer, allegedly demanding money from the victim. However, when the victim rejected his demands, the person attacked Patil on his abdomen and fled the spot.The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital by his friend and later filed a medical-legal case regarding the incident.
Based on the complaint, the police have taken up a case under sections 323 (Voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), and 341 (wrongful restraint) under the IPC. Later in the day, sources from the police said that they had picked up a person from Shivajinagar in connection with the incident. However, it is yet to be ascertained whether he was involved in the case, sources said. Further developments in the case will be reported.
