
10-km long traffic jam on Krishnagiri Highway

Bengaluru: For motorists travelling on the Krishnagi ri Highway, t he t r a f f ic f low wa s thrown out of gear on Tuesday after a heavy trailer truck overturned and the goods lay strewn on the road.
Jayaprakash, a traveller who got stuck in the traffic, said, “The traffic jam was nearly 10 km long, with cars and other vehicles bumperto-bumper. Everyone had turned off their engines and waited for the road to clear.”
A frequent user of this route, He was returning with three other friends from Tamil Nadu and had hoped to reach Bengaluru by 9 pm. But the long traffic jam ensured that he could not reach home before 2.30 am.
He said, “My friends and I decided to watch a film in the car while we waited for the road to get cleared. But we expended a lot of fuel as the A/C was kept on.” In a similar accident few months ago, a truck carrying oil barrels crashed on the highway resulting in an oil spill, posing a hazard to motorists – especially twowheeler riders.
The Krishnagiri Highway is undergoing maintenance works and will be expanding its east and west stretches.
