Bengaluru: State Congress celebrated Constitution Day at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office in Bengaluru on Saturday. On the occasion, KPCC president DK Shivakumar likened the constitution to a ‘mahagrantha’ (great religious scripture) for the country.

“We have a religious scripture for every country. Similarly, the constitution is a great scripture for our country,” he said, adding that constitution affirmed the diversity of the country, be it different religious faiths, languages or food habits, among other differences.

“Strive to protect the unity, integrity and peace of this country, which is a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic,” he added.
