Kumaraswamy slams Sudhakar for comments on his yatra

The two-time chief minister also accused Sudhakar of lawlessness, claiming that he had turned his constituency into the “republic of Perasandra” on the lines of “republic of Ballari” which was the case under the first term of Yediyurappa as CM

Chikkaballapura: Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy wound up the Chikkballapura leg of his party’s pancharatna rath yatra on Sunday and in the process took aim at State Health Minister K Sudhakar.

The JD(S) legislature party leader, accompanied by his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy, at Peresandra village in the district, held that Sudhakar and Revenue Minister R Ashoka had spoken light about the Pancharatna Yatra.

“They said I had been misguiding people by telling tall tales. I would like to pose a question to the constituency’s MLA (Sudhakar). I didn’t start this programme by telling fantastic stories. Back in the day, Congress had started the panchajanya scheme to come to power. I started the pancharatna yatra for the betterment of the state. These past 10 days, I’ve been travelling, meeting and discussing issues with people,” Kumaraswamy said.

“Mr Sudhakar, this is my programme. Which programme have you held lately? If you want to be a doctor in a (government) hospital, you have to cough up two years’ worth of salaries. This is his work summed in a single sentence. I have waived farmers’ loans worth Rs26,000 crore. Don’t talk lightly about me. Mother Chamundi’s curse will strike you,” he said.

The two-time chief minister also accused Sudhakar of lawlessness, claiming that they had turned it into the “republic of Perasandra” on the lines of “republic of Ballari” which was the case under the first term of BS Yediyurappa as CM.

The Pancha Ratna refers to the five election promises of the JD(S): free education, free health care, free housing, addressing of farmers issues, and guaranteed employment for at least one member of the household. The party plans on covering some 120 Assembly constituencies under the programme by March. Elections are due in May
