Bengaluru: At least seven accused have been identified and arrested by the Electronic City police station in connection with the assault on the staff of a popular eatery near Niladri Nagar.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru SouthEast, CK Baba said, “Based on a complaint filed by the staffers of Village restaurant, seven persons identified as Shankar, Keerthi, Abhishek, Praveen Kumar, Hemanth Kumar, Abhishek and Abhilash have been arrested. The accused people are currently being interrogated and an investigation is underway,” he said.

On being asked about the rumours of a BJP leader’s son being involved in the assault, an officer from the Electronic City police denied any knowledge about it. The incident took place on the night of November 21, when a group of 15 to 20 youths, reportedly drunk, entered the Village restaurant near Niladri Nagar and ordered food.

However, as it was closing time, the staffers asked them to visit the next morning. Enraged at being denied admission, the group allegedly assaulted the staff. However, a video of the incident was captured on a mobile phone by one of the staffers and later shared with the police.
