City traffic chief wins hearts of Bengalureans

Bengaluru: Praises and wishes started pouring in for the Bengaluru Special Commissioner, Traffic, MA Saleem (in pic), from the residents and netizens for easing the long pending traffic issues in the city, with his innovative measures.
As soon as he was posted as the special commissioner for traffic, MA Saleem started visiting the bottleneck areas and chalked out three formulas and began implementing them. The first among them was the restriction of goods carriers and heavy vehicles in the city during the peak traffic hours, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The second is traffic signal synchronisation. If a signal is open, then the next signal on the road will also be open so that the traffic will move further. The third was the mobile traffic police, who will start monitoring the traffic to avoid any congestion as early as 8 a.m.
Earlier, the special commissioner had said that most of the traffic problems arise due to the movement of heavy vehicles carrying construction materials, as there are a lot of construction activities happening on the outskirts of the city.
Next, the top cop is planning to make a dedicated carriageway and a safe passageway allowing the parents to drop off their children at their school playgrounds safely near the Central Business District and other areas.
