Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a techie was found dead inside his car near Kurubarahalli junction in North Bengaluru.
The police identified the deceased as Vijay Kumar, 52, who was employed as a software engineer at a city-based private firm. He was a resident of Mahalakshmi Layout. Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that Kumar was suffering from depression due to his health condition as he was a heart patient.
The incident took place on Monday after Kumar left his home after informing his family that he was taking his car to a service centre. Reports of his death came to light only on Tuesday night.
Kumar drove his car and parked it near a public park at Kurubarahalli junction and covered it with a bed sheet. It is suspected that he had purchased a gas cylinder. He sneaked into the backseat of the car, opened the nozzle of the cylinder after which the vehicle was filled with Nitrogen.
He is suspected to have died due to suffocation. He had also covered his face with plastic sheets, sources from the police told News Trail. Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Division, Vinayak Patil said, “The person had been suffering from depression and had been searching over the internet for possible effects on a family after the death of a member,” he said.
The police were surprised when they reached the spot to rescue Kumar as they found a caution written on the car saying, “Only the police should open the door of the car as it is filled with poisonous gas.”
The sources added that a suicide note was recovered from inside the car in which Kumar states that he committed suicide due to health issues. He was rushed to a hospital, but was declared dead by doctors. An unnatural death report (UDR) for suicide has been registered by Mahalakshmi Layout police.
