BWSSB: Will finish job in quick time

Bengaluru: The Bangalore Water Sewerage Supply Board held an adalat in all eight zones across the city in order to discuss civic issues with residents and aim for a “better approach”. The meeting was held at the office of the BWSSB.
Vice president of resident welfare association Spandana Vedike Bhavan, Sivaraman, voice of KRS Officers’ Colony residents based in 2nd Stage BTM Layout, listed out a “civic mayhem” in the area. According to him, work on the 7th Cross, near Madiwala Lake, which connects to the Hosur Road, is behind schedule with repair and patch-up work, making it a menace for commuters besides causing confusion.
As per the welfare association, a minute funding sanction of Rs 60 lakh has been proposed by the RWA to the BBMP authorities to carry out positive intervention. The association has also contacted traffic authorities and issued several complaints to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), BWSSB and Storm Water Drain (SWD) authorities, but very “few calls have even been answered”.
He said that due to the Metro construction, KRS Colony residents find it difficult to cross roads due to the heavy traffic in the area, due to which school buses moving towards HSR Layout and Koramangala get stranded frequently. The RWA approached Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) with a proposal of a skywalk.
They were “shunted” to the BBMP for approval of the same. The project has been handed over to an executive engineer with a “promise” of the skywalk to be aligned between pillar numbers 180 and 181.
Speaking about the situation, a BWSSB official said, “The maintenance work will take some more time as we are operating on minimal funds. We are also coordinating with the BBMP, Traffic Police authorities, Bescom and the BMRCL. We can assure that work on the 7th Cross mentioned by the RWA is being treated as a priority".
