Bengaluru: After being in the industry for more than two decades, Yograj Bhat’s films have become a trade mark of sorts. Moreover, his movies, the characters he portrays, and the film’s music has an ardent audience. His filmography includes classics such as Mungaru Male, Gaalipata, Drama, etc.
The director, writer, producer, and Lyricist in an interview with News Trail spoke about his journey from his serial days, to his upcoming production venture Padavi Poorva. You have worked in serials and later on, entered the film business so what did you envision while working in serials? Back in the day serial making was sort of close-up media.
Elements such as dialogues and casting were very crucial in making serials. Speaking of films, it's altogether a different ball game, as it is all about visual grandeur, including the Human drama facet which should be tolding reater audiovisuals.
You’ve collaborated with veterans such as Anant Nag, and Rangayana Raghu. What is your experience of working with them? Anant Nag is an iconic actor; he knows what is acting. On the other hand, Rangayana Raghu is a true entertainer and has no boundaries at all when it comes to acting. Your cinema Mungaru Male was a massive hit and touched a lot of people's hearts.
When did you know you wanted this story to be heard by people? After my first two films, I realized that none of my plans are good and discovered that the audience can never be predicted. I, later on, began understanding the relationship between results and the box office. My guesswork went in a distinct direction altogether to which later on Mungaru Male arrived. I have immense gratitude to the entire society, my team, the industry, and the press. I consider Mungaru as an example of pure Kannada pride.
Who do you consider your inspiration? And what inspires you the most? My prominent inspiration is Kannada-speaking common men, young boys and girls. Speaking of Gaalipata 1, another film of yours has a separate fan base among the audience. My question to you is what led to the inception of this story? What was that one sequence which holds a special place in your heart whilst shooting Gaalipata 1 and 2? Explaining the success of Gaalipata 1 and 2 is a little tricky.
Through Gaalipata 1 and 2, I have tried narrating some specialties regarding friendship, love, and life. Rest I am unaware. Sharing an anecdote while filming Gaalipata 2, the director disclosed; In part two Anant Sir suggested I should not shoot a flight casualty, which I consider is the best advice ever conveyed to me it saved our crew's energy.
Padavi Poorva the movie you're producing is releasing towards the end of December. What are your expectations? Padavi Poorva is a great venture. I loved the narration, Hari Prasad is a highly talented director, and the film's cast and crew are incredible. I am thankful to the team for letting me produce this flick.
