Bengaluru: Congress on Thursday unveiled its manifesto dubbed ‘Congress Vision 2023’, on its website for the 2023 Assembly elections, which are due in May.

Congress party manifesto committee president, G Parameshwara made the same public, in the presence of KPCC president Saleem Ahmed, vice president of the campaign committee Radhakrishna, party’s OBC wing president Madhu Bangarappa and others. Parameshwara said that the last time Congress had a simple majority in the state Assembly; it had fulfilled most of its promises made in the manifesto.

This was from 2013 to 2018 when Siddaramaiah was the Chief Minister. Parameshwara had held the state home ministry for a part of that tenure. “Before facing the elections in 2013, Congress had made 160 promises to the people of the state.

Those promises were divided into two or three sections. Some of these promises were fulfilled in the first year of coming to power. This included the Anna Bhagya scheme,” he mentioned. He also denied the BJP’s claim that Congress, through their manifesto, would try to abolish the laws passed by the saffron party.

“You will know this when the manifesto is released. We have to make our stand clear on some issues. We don’t play with people’s emotions. We value development and social justice. BJP only misleads people by way of emotions,” Parameshwara stated.

He added that, in its yet to be released manifesto, the party would focus on a host of issues such as youth and employment, women and reservation for them in local body elections, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers, Anganwadi employees, electricity, drinking water issues, bad roads and traffic congestion in Bengaluru, among others.
