Stop ‘religious interference’ in education: Student org
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: The All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) demanded that the State government roll back moves to impose “religious interference” in the state’s education system. AIDSO State Secretary Ajay Kamath expressed concern about the recent decision of the State government to form a committee as proposed in a recent meeting which was held along with seers. He also said that imposing vegetarian ‘satwik’ food on children studying in government schools was not prudent.
“Pushing religion into education and imposing the food habits of one section of the society on the rest is highly undemocratic and unethical. The government should immediately drop the proposal to form a committee to implement the recommendations of the meeting and work towards building a truly secular and democratic education system. AIDSO demands that the government consult the education-loving community, democratic thinkers, students, teachers, and parents to come forward to save secular, democratic, and ethical education,” Kamath added.
