Man held for killing friend over petty issue

Bengaluru: Byatarayanapura police arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly killing his friend over a trivial issue.

The accused has been identified as Hemanth, 24, a resident of Deepanjali Nagar. The police have seized his two-wheeler, and suspect that another person is involved in the case. The incident took place around 7 pm on January 14 in New Timber Layout.

Hemanth and his friend met the deceased, identified as Jagadish, to talk to him over a dispute. It is revealed that Jagadish was a painter. During a heated argument, Hemanth allegedly slapped Jagadish after which he collapsed on the ground, unconscious.

Sources said that Jagadish suffered a severe head injury due to the fall. Jagadish was rushed to a hospital where he reportedly died on Monday around 11.30 pm without responding to the treatment. Based on a complaint filed by the family of Jagadish, the police arrested Hemanth and are on the lookout for his friend.
