City to play host to first-ever state Science Expo

Bengaluru: The city will be hosting a first-ever State Level Science Exhibition on January 27 and 28 at the Tripuravasini Palace Grounds.
An initiative by the Karnataka Social Welfare Department, the expo, has been organised in order to make science fun, exciting and engaging for young minds. Students from across 1156 schools including 830 residential schools and 326 schools under Karnataka Minority Welfare Department are expected to attend the Science Expo 2023.
With engaging workshops, various aircraft and exhibits designed by talented students, the event is likely to be a major crowd-puller. The Science Expo will be inaugurated by the Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday at 9:30 am. Following the inauguration, the Chief minister will check out the stalls and various exhibits at the venue.
Minister of Transport Department and Tribal Welfare B Sriramulu and Minister of Social Welfare Department and Backward Classes Welfare Department Kota Srinivas Poojary followed by other dignitaries will also attend the event. Officials including the Principal Secretary to Government, Minority Welfare Department, Major P Manivannan and MLAs and MPs of the constituencies will be the guests of honour for the event.
Speaking to News Trail, a senior official from the Social Welfare Department said that the two-day science fair will prepare and display innovative experiments related to science, mathematics and information technology.
“Reputed science institutions such as Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Vishweshwaraiah Museum will hold stalls displaying various models and scientific experiments,” the official said. “Facilities have been made for the differently-abled students at the venue,” he added.
