Bengaluru: India's Energy Conundrum, systems thinking for examining Sustainable future is a panel discussion which will be held at the Bangalore International Center, Domlur on 31 January. With climate change posing a threat to the environment, energy is the new reform for the path of development.
The event will begin from 6.30 pm to 7.45pm. As India plans to set up the game in sustainable corners, the main target is to lower greenhouse gas emissions and plans to acquire net zero emissions by the year 2070, with the application of NDC goals from 2030.
As India still strives to compensate for energy demands, it is also looking forward to fulfilling these demands, bringing a more improved living aligning with the developmental goals of the country. CSTEP has developed a new modelling framework which helps examine synergies and trade-offs known as the Sustainable Alternative Futures for India or SAFARI.
The talk will feature the importance and will also ponder upon the developing scenarios of India followed by a question and answer round. The guest speakers for the event are Jai Asundi, Think Tank Researcher, and Executive Director at the Center for Study of Science Technology, Policu (CSTEP) Banglore.
He headed the Center for Air Pollution Studies unit at the centre and his field of interest from a research point of view has been in information technology and sustainable development and living. He will be joined by Ecologist and author Harini Nagendra who is also a professor at Azim Premji University, where she heads the Center for Climate Change and Sustainability.
Harini Nagendra received the Elinor Ostrom Senior Scholar award in 2013 for her research on the practice of urban commons. In 2016, her book ‘Nature in the city: Bengaluru in Past, Present and Future’ was published and her latest book ‘ Bangalore’s Detectives Club’ is making the rounds in the city.
