Bengaluru: The terminated workers of Yazaki India, a subsidiary of the Tokyo headquartered Yazaki Corporation, organised a rally in Nelamangala in order to seek support from the residents in the neighbourhood.
The management, which had promised to reinstate all the terminated workers, is delaying the process and making it difficult for the workers to sustain without a salary for the past one and a half month. The demand currently is to take the workers back immediately.
The firm had allegedly terminated the services of 53 workers without even providing them with a notice or genuine reason on December 13, instigating an indefinite strike by the laid-off employees with the support of the All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU).
Another 100 employees who joined the protest in solidarity were also terminated the next day. After a series of meetings with the management, overseen by the district administration, the company agreed to reinstate the workers. However, as of now, only around 30 workers have been taken back, while the rest of the workers are still continuing to protest
