Bengaluru: An event organised by Children's Movement of Civic Awareness (CMCA), a non-profit organisation, brought the city traffic police and the school students together on a platform on Tuesday. The special event was named ‘Celebrating Namma Bengaluru’s Traffic Police’ as it was organised with an aim to help the young minds to value and abide by the traffic rules and regulations.

More than 50 students from different schools in the city gathered at the Police Traffic Park in Bengaluru to appreciate the role of traffic police in the city. During the event, children lauded the BTP for their services and gifted them with thank you cards, poems, and messages.

The traffic police officers were touched by the gesture and thanked the children for brightening their day. Speaking to reporters, Special Commissioner, Traffic, MS Saleem, said "This is a moment of nostalgia for me. We had such celebrations in the past and CMCA has continued to recognise the work of the traffic police," he said.

"This event boosts our morale and helps us work better. I would like to thank the students for coming here and for recognising us; you will be citizens of tomorrow and I encourage you to follow traffic rules, that is the biggest thank you and contribution you can make," he added.

Priya Krishnamurthy, Co-Founder and CEO of CMCA mentioned how the children learn that their right to safe roads comes with the responsibility to follow traffic rules. "By taking part in this programme, children learn about empathy and start looking at things differently," she said.
