150 new wardens to assist in city traffic regulation

Bengaluru: A fresh set of recruited traffic wardens will take oath on Tuesday at Police Traffic Park here.
Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) said that this time, 150 newly recruited traffic wardens will help manage traffic in the city. Currently, there are over 700 traffic wardens serving the BTP. BCP-Traffic Warden Organisation is the only voluntary service organisation in the country that has been actively serving the city for 37 years.
Among the wardens are doctors, engineers, advocates, teachers, bank employees, government servants, business people, and industrialists besides IT & BT professionals. They have voluntarily joined the organisation with the sole interest to serve it and the public. These wardens perform duty in their area twice a week, while others do it throughout the week and assist the traffic police.
They also take part is special duty during cricket matches, air shows, religious functions etc, and work day and night with traffic police. It is said that Special Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Dr MA Saleem will administer the oath to the new recruits at 4 pm on Tuesday.
Bangalore City Police Traffic Warden Organisation (BCPTWO) is a voluntary organisation that was formed in the year 1985 by an order of the Government of Karnataka to assist the Bangalore City Traffic Police in various enforcement and regulation activities. The organisation has been actively assisting the Bengaluru City Traffic Police in managing traffic.
Currently, there are over 700 wardens serving Bengaluru. It is the only voluntary service organisation in the country that has served a city traffic police for 37 years.
