Bengaluru: Cracking the murder case of an autorickshaw driver recently, the Banaswadi police arrested two accused who had gone absconding after the incident. They have been identified as Manoj and Kavish. On February 8, a 29-year old resident of Chikka Banaswadi, Shekhar, was attacked and killed by two unidentified persons.
Initial probe by the jurisdictional police revealed that Shekhar was an autorickshaw driver who had also started financing short-term loans. Police suspected he had been killed over a financial dispute. It has transpired that Manoj had taken a loan of Rs 90,000 from Shekhar, but failed to return it on time. Shekhar had been asking Manoj to return the money.
On Wednesday, Manoj and Kavish took Shekhar to a local bar to have a drink. After getting drunk, Shekhar again demanded that the duo return his money, which angered them. As they started arguing over the matter, Shekhar allegedly abused the duo. Enraged, the two followed Shekhar on a bike and attacked him with a knife on his chest and stomach before fleeing, police sources said.
