Act against erring officers, says Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru: Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Monday expressed dismay over the way the State government had handled the row between IPS officer D Roopa and IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri, adding that action should be taken against both of them.
He added that the State government and Chief Secretary should have acted against them strictly to begin with, which did not happen. He said that he was especially disappointed with the way State Home Minister Araga Jnanendra had acted during the episode.
“The Chief Secretary should immediately summon them both and warn them. This is just an example of how authorities are carrying out their work. Going by this, one can guess whether there is a government or not,” Kumaraswamy said.
Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma had indeed summoned and questioned both officers over their public spat. Roopa had recently shared “private pictures” of Sindhuri claiming the latter had shared the images with male colleagues. The former has also accused Sindhuri of corrupt dealings.
