Bengaluru: Two police officers including an inspector have come under the radar after allegations of irregularities in connection with the auctioning of unclaimed vehicles at the Gangamma Gudi Police Station recently.
As per the police, A Nagaraj, a head constable attached to the Customs Office, had lost his scooter that was parked outside his house in KG Halli on August 12 2020. The constable had approached the Gangamma Gudi Police Station in North Bengaluru and had filed a vehicle missing complaint based on which an FIR was also registered.
Later, the scooter was recovered by a team of policemen from the Byadarahalli Police Station following which it was put on auction on November 4 by procuring the necessary permissions from the court and the divisional deputy commissioner or police.
Recently, Nagaraj was shocked to learn that the cops had auctioned off his vehicle without even approaching him. He also got to know that his scooter was purchased by a staffer of the Byadarahalli Police Station for Rs 4,100.
The head constable immediately visited the Gangamma Gudi Police Station to file a complaint regarding the matter. He alleged that his complaint was not accepted by the cops there. However, during the same time, his scooter was allegedly delivered to his house.
Based on the complaints and allegations made by Nagaraj, an inquiry was initiated by senior officials and a report submitted to Police Commissioner CH Pratap Reddy. Disciplinary action has been recommended by the top cop against the then inspector and a head constable for dereliction of duty. Further investigation is underway in the matter, sources from police added.
