One killed, 3 injured in a brutal attack over petty issue

Bengaluru: The Upparpet police arrested a person from Odisha for allegedly killing one person and injuring three others while brutally attacking them near a food joint in the Majestic area.
The deceased was identified by the police as Sandeep alias Machha, 35, a resident of Majestic while the others were identified as Shankar, a native of Davangere; Ravi and Kencha, both residents of Kaveri colony in Magadi. Sources from the police said that the injured have been shifted to Victoria Hospital where they are getting treated for injuries. Speaking to News Trail, the sources said that while Shankar was working at a local bar as a cleaner, Sandeep, Ravi and Kencha earned their living by working as ragpickers.
During the nights, the four friends used to sleep outside a food joint near the bar where Shankar was working. However, on Tuesday around 1 am, the men who were fast asleep, woke up to find a youth urinating on the wall near the place where they were sleeping. Taking an objection, the friends allegedly abused him and drove him from the spot.
The police said that the youth was identified as Tahseen , 23, a native of Odisha, who was reportedly working at another hotel in the same area. The youth however returned to the spot around 3 am and allegedly assaulted the sleeping men with a wooden log brutally before fleeing. Sandeep and Kencha lost consciousness due to bleeding while Shankar and Ravi suffered severe injuries on their head and face.
Meanwhile, the food joint owner, Shafeeq Ahmed, who came in the morning was horrified when he found the bludgeoned men. According to sources Ahmed knew the men as they had been sleeping outside his shop for several months. Inquiring about their ordeal, Ahmed alerted the Upparpet police station and shifted the men to a hospital.
However around 12:30 pm, Sandeep succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Shafiq Ahmed, a resident of Gangondanahalli, filed a complaint regarding the matter, based on which the police began a probe and nabbed Tahseen within a few hours.
