Bengaluru: With the II PUC examinations set to begin on Thursday, March 9, the Karnataka School Examination and Evaluation Board has taken all necessary measures to ensure exams are conducted in a smooth manner, sans any irregularities and malpractices.
In all 7,27,387 students have registered to write the examination and 1,109 examination centres have been set up across the state for the purpose. One police personnel will be stationed at each of the centres. CCTV cameras have been installed at the centres in a move to curb malpractice.
The cops have also been given the responsibility of providing security to the vehicles carrying the question papers to exam centres. Mobile phones and smart watches among other electronic devices have been banned inside the exam hall. Only water bottles and sanitisers are allowed inside exam halls.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister B C Nagesh has said that the students must reach their exam halls half an hour early. He assured that the exams would be conducted in a student-friendly manner. During the current academic year, a change has been made to incorporate multiple choice questions (MCQs) for 20 marks, with each of them weighing one mark.
This change will be continued in the coming years too, the minister said. Minister B C Nagesh further reiterated that students in hijab will not be allowed to write the exams. “Hijab is not part of the uniform. The High Court of Karnataka has upheld the government order in this regard,” he said.
