4 road transport corporation staff to go on indefinite strike

Bengaluru: The employees unions of all four state road transport corporations are planning an indefinite strike from March 24 and have requested for the reconciliation process to be completed within the statutory period of 14 days.

They had earlier warned of an indefinite strike from March 1. Earlier when the employees had struck work in April 2021, the government had promised to consider placing them under the 6th pay commission. The employees were counting on the promise to be fulfilled in this year’s budget, however, the government has not addressed the matter.

The employees of four corporations Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) and Kalyana Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KKSRTC) are set to participate in the strike. The federations have been demanding restoration of the status of employees who were suspended for taking part in the 2021 protests.
