Generally, sequels of movies fail to meet cine-goers’ expectations due to various reasons. But director P Vasu has proved his mettle in making Drishya 2 more interesting than its first part -- Drishya that was released more than seven years ago. The specialty of Vasu is that he gives importance to the script rather than the actors. He never introduces song sequences or stunt sequences just for the sake of action or entertainment. This movie has only one song. Drishya 2 begins with narrating the incidents that take place seven years after the murder of a police officer’s son. The police continue to investigate the case and try every trick to find the body buried by Rajendra Ponnappa. Meanwhile, a few locals become jealous over Ponnappa who not only escapes from being punished by the police but also buys a cinema theatre. Finally, the police succeed in finding the body that was buried in the police station itself. Will Ponnappa save his family from the police? What happens to him and his family is the crux of the climax.

It may not be an exaggeration to say Drishya 2 is a treat for Ravi Chandra’s fans. He faithfully and religiously followed the script and never craves for special attention or more screen space. His acting skills in emotional sequences with Navya Nair and a comedy scene with Sadhu Kokila are superb. The only disadvantage is that he, known as a Rasika, has no chance to run around trees.

Navya Nair, as a concerned mother and devoted wife, is at her best. Swaroopini, as a convent educated girl who craves for more freedom, has acted well. Sadhu Kokila, as a Dubai returned beggar, provides the much needed comedy. Veteran actor Anant Nag has played an important role. His dialogue delivery and acting skills are superb. Asha Sharath, in a brief appearance, is convincing as an egoistic police officer determined to avenge her son’s murder at any cost. Prabhu, Srinivas Prabhu and Pramod Shetty provide good support. Glamorous Sonu Gowda plays the defense lawyer.

All in all, it is worth watching, especially the post-intermission session, by all.
