Bengaluru: A Railways TTE was placed under suspension for allegedly misbehaving with a woman passenger at the KR Puram station in Bengaluru. A video of the incident has gone viral on the social media site Twitter. In the video, the woman passenger can be seen being supported by other people in the vicinity while arguing with the ticket examiner.
“Why are you pulling me? Talk to me softly. I am here because I have booked a ticket,” the woman tells the TTE in the video, to which he is heard replying: “Show the ticket. That is what I have been asking since then. Checking tickets is my job. Show and go… bloody I am telling you.”
When the passenger says that she will raise a complaint with the police, the TTE says she can go ahead. “I don’t know her but she is travelling alone and he is dissing her,” a copassenger can be heard saying in the video. The Railways PRO office in a statement said that the woman had reportedly booked a ticket on the 22863 HWH SMVB Express, which does not stop at KR Puram.
However, the train had to stop at the station as another train was crossing at the time. “It is alleged that he pulled the lady passenger out of the train when the train halted. It is also alleged that he was drunk on duty,” the statement said, identifying the TTE in the video as Santosh of KJM station and not the onboard TTE. The Railways is currently conducting an investigation of the matter and has placed the accused on suspension.
