Do not worry of development, be more concerned about religion: Eshwarappa

Bengaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party senior leader KS Eshwarrapa on Tuesday stoked controversy over development projects in the state. BJP’s star campaigner Eshwarrappa addressed a sabha where he said, “Nobody helps when Muslim boys trouble our Hindu girls. Stop worrying about roads, streetlights, sewage and water. We must be more concerned about our religion and culture. Whoever plants this venomous seed must be shown their place.” He also said that the party doesn’t need a single vote from Muslims in Karnataka.

“We should stay united when it comes to caste. Please don’t try to break us. They say there are around fifty-five thousand Muslim votes here, but we don’t want a single vote from them”, Eshwarrapa said in the meeting. Responding to Eshwarrapa’s comment, Chittapur MLA Priyank Kharge said those comments from the BJP leaders are not new.

“The BJP has nothing to back to win the upcoming Assembly elections, which is why they have resorted to their old policies, which is to spread communal tension and try to woo voters. They do not want to talk about development of the state because it is not their agenda. If they have done anything in terms of development, they would have highlighted that”, Priyank Kharge told News Trail. The MLA also said Congress will continue to highlight corruption and other wrongdoings of the BJP, adding it has its strategies to win the elections.
