Bengaluru: National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have proposed that slow-moving vehicles such as auto-rickshaws, tractors, lorries, buses, etc. should be barred from using the Bengaluru Mysuru expressway according to sources. The proposal came in the wake of reported instances of lane indiscipline involving KSRTC buses’ and accidents and fatalities on the expressway.

A few days ago, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) issued a circular to bus drivers warning them to follow traffic rules and maintain lane discipline on the Bengaluru Mysuru expressway after two tragic deaths were reported because of the carelessness of the drivers.

A bus driver was driving on the wrong side of the expressway when the bus hit the 30-year-old biker who died on the spot. In another incident earlier this month, a 50-year-old farmer died when his bike collided with a KSRTC bus, which was being driven on the wrong lane. The farmer is survived by his wife and two daughters.
