Bengaluru: A touching tale of a son’s love for his mother comes from Dakshinamurthy Krishna Kumar, who takes his mother on a scooter ride across all temples in the country. Kumar, 44, a computer engineer by profession hails from Karnataka. He quit his full-time corporate job to fulfill his mother’s desire to visit temples. He took her on the scooter gifted to him by his late father.

Starting his jour ney in January 2018, has covered all places from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, covering a staggering distance of 67,412 km. He has also visited Bhutan, Myanmar, and Nepal on the same scooter. “My mother once told me that she never visited the temple close to our house. After this, I decided to take my mother on tour not only to the temple next door but also to the temple of the whole country, leaving my job,” he says.

Kumar fondly recalls that the scooter he rides with his mother was a gift from his late father, who passed away in 2015. He has made a personal commitment not to marry and live with his mother and prioritize her well-being. His mother, who is 73, expressing her joy dubs his son a modernday’s Sharavan Kumar, a legendary figure who is known for his parental devotion according to Hindu mythology.
