IT accessories, peripherals' demand resilient in India: Report

Bengaluru: Despite the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic, the demand for IT accessories and peripherals in India will remain resilient, according to a recent report by GfK Market Intelligence. The report highlights that the pandemic has stimulated the demand for IT products as businesses and households adapted to remote working and online activities.
The report further reveals that the IT devices market in India saw record demand in 2021, with offline PC sales increasing by 27 percent compared to 2019. The growing importance of technology among the middle class, the hybrid work culture, and increased awareness among the younger generation have collectively contributed to such market trends.
The market is also witnessing a growing focus on ergonomic design, portability, Bluetooth connectivity, and thinness in the computer mouse category. Compact keyboards with Bluetooth and RGB backlighting are also flourishing in the market due to the enhanced user experience they offer, the report says.
The report also highlights interesting zonal trends in the Indian market, with the West Zone emerging as the biggest market for computer mice and keyboards, closely followed by the North. The East Zone has a modest contribution. These indications will aid businesses to focus on specific regions to capture the growing demand for tech.
Furthermore, the gaming sector has seen significant expansion during the pandemic, with a large percentage of urban Indians playing video games on personal computers, smartphones, and tablets. Although macroeconomic uncertainty may impact growth this year, the report sug g ests a cautiously optimistic outlook, with businesses adapting working models that are expected to support demand.
Manufacturers and retailers are advised to continue focusing on developing high-performance products with premium features that simplify customers' lives and meet their evolving needs, the GfK Market Intelligence report maintained.
