Bengaluru: A college student allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of the police quarters near Binnipet in the city on Sunday. The deceased was identified by the police as Ayisha BR, a student of St Agnes College in Mangaluru district.
According to sources, she had recently come to Bengaluru. The incident took place around 8.30 am, police said. Police also said that a death note was recovered from the spot allegedly written by Aisha, which read that no one but herself is responsible for her death.
"I'm committing suicide due to depression. I have hurt my family and I regret it," the letter read. The matter had raised suspicion as the letter also mentioned the name of Bhimesh Naik, a sub-inspector attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) who had served jail time in a Pocso case. The letter alleged that Aiysha had made a false complaint against Naik that led to his arrest.
The letter also mentioned that Ayisha's family was under severe stress due to the incident. However, the details of the incidents are yet to be ascertained as the police have initiated a probe into the case. The death note is also being examined. A case has been registered at the Cottonpet Police Station and further investigation is underway.
