Bengaluru: Strong winds, which were accompanied by heavy rains, brought down more than 100 trees in the city, according to the estimates of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
However, officials associated with the civic body said that many of the complaints could be fallen branches once inspected the next day. Moreover, waterlogging was reported in parts of the city, including flooded underpasses such as the one near KR Circle, which took the life of a 22-year-old city-based techie Bhanu Rekha, who was originally from Vijayawada.

They added that the leaves would be cleared so as to maintain the drainage system. The civic body reported that in BBMP East zone alone 69 fallen trees had been reported, adding that in Bengaluru South, 18 trees had been uprooted.
BBMP officials reported that they had received complaints of tree fall from localities such as Rajaji Nagar, RT Nagar, Basaveshwara Nagar, Vijay Nagar, Jayamahal, Lingarajapuram, Narayanahalli, Marathahalli, another one near Press Club in Cubbon Park, apart from other areas.
