Bengaluru: In a concerning development, numerous individuals have fallen ill and experienced stomach ache attributed to the drinking of contaminated water as it got mixed with sewage in various parts of the city. The supply of contaminated water has affected areas supplied through drinking water pipes along Bull Temple Road in Basavanagudi, an important locality, extending to NR Colony, Thyagarajanagar and Hanumantanagar.

Residents in these regions have fallen ill as a result, with stomach ache being the most commonly reported ailment, prompting hospital visits for treatment. Contaminated water has been supplied to several apartments, including Ramleela Apartments and Krishnaleela Apartments in the colony.

Those who have used this water for bathing have reported skin problems. Consequently, the use of Cauvery water has been suspended for the past four days. The Water Board has been notified about the contaminated water supply, and Jalmandal officials have assured the public that the issue has been resolved and there is no cause for concern.

However, reports indicate that the contaminated water supply persists. As a result, residents in the affected area have resorted to using private tanker water, as the use of Cauvery water has been deemed unsafe. Regrettably, the owners of private tankers are taking advantage of the situation and charging exorbitant fees, far exceeding the stipulated rates.

Complaints regarding this matter have seemingly gone unnoticed by Jalmandali officials. Numerous individuals have fallen ill and sought medical treatment due to consuming contaminated water. Even now, some individuals are experiencing stomach aches and have brought the issue to the attention of BBMP officials.

Local residents express disappointment as they claim that corporation officials have not visited the area or conducted inspections to address the problem. The residents affected by this health crisis urge immediate attention and swift action to rectify the contaminated water supply and ensure the well-being of the community
