Bengaluru: A young couple, to be married in a few days, was found dead in a bathroom of their residence here. Following an inspection, the police expressed suspicion that they may have suffocated due to a leakage of poisonous gas from the geyser. The deceased have been identified as Chandrashkhar, 30, from Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajanagar and Sudharani, 22, from Belagavi.
According to sources, the couple was employed at the Prestige Golfshire Resort and Spa near Nandi Hills. It was also revealed that the two were engaged and were about to get married soon. On June 10, Sudharani visited Chandrashekhar's residence in Tarabanahalli following which the two went into the bathroom to take a shower.
The windows and door of the bathroom were locked while the gas geyser was in use. The matter came to light the next morning when the house owner got suspicious that the doors and windows of Chandrashekhar's house remained closed on Sunday morning, which was unusual for him.
As the owner broke open the door, he found the bodies and alerted the Chikkajala police. The bodies were later shifted to a hospital. Police suspect that the duo died on the spot due to inhalation of poisonous gas (carbon monoxide) from the gas geyser. A case has been registered regarding the matter.
