Bengaluru: Minister for Higher Education Dr MC Sudhakar on Saturday said the need of the hour is to rectify mistakes in textbooks and remove discrepancies in the education system as also fix unemployment issues in the State.

“It is our responsibility to supply human resources as per the industry demand and requirement. There is a lot of demand for skilled labourers. I want to meet the demands by ensuring suitable amenities for skill development,’’ Minister Dr M C Sudhakar said. Speaking after inaugurating the 1st Global Conference on Basal Implantology organised at Conrad Hotel on Saturday.

The minister opined that a solution to the problems could be found only when educational institutions adapt to changes. “I stopped practicing dentistry in 2004. I am unhappy for not being able to serve people as a doctor, but I dedicated myself completely to the public service through politics. I won twice and got defeated twice, yet I never gave up. I won from Chintamani constituency by 30,000 votes in the recent State Assembly election,’’ Dr Sudhakar said. The minister said there are many implant treatment methods in dentistry.

“Now, patients have a lot of awareness of these methods. I am of the opinion that awareness has to be created among the patients on the facilities and methods available in dentistry. We have to offer the facilities to provide treatment at an affordable cost,’’ he added.
