Rain plays spoilsport in BBMP's SWD eviction drive

Bengaluru: The sudden spell on Tuesday temporarily halted the BBMP’s encroachment drive on storm-water drains in Doddanekundi and Panathur. The civic body was on an encroachment evacuation drive after it was paused over the Assembly election in the State.
On Monday, the BBMP removed encroachments at Fern City in Doddanekundi and razed down a clubhouse, walking path and a swimming pool. It is to be noted that the drive paced up following the order from Tushar Girinath, chief of BBMP, to avoid any rain damages and loss of lives due to rains in the State.
The drive is also expected to avoid waterlogging across the State and prevent the yesteryear situation, when many lives were lost due to flood and rain mishaps. However, the officials are likely to resume the drive after following the due process.
