Drunk man killed for teasing physically challenged friend

Bengaluru: A man was brutally killed by smashing his head with a concrete hollow block for teasing a physically challenged friend while they were drinking at a bar at Annapoorneshwari Nagar in the city on Wednesday night.

The police have arrested two people in this connection. Vijay Kumar, who works as a driver, was earlier a cashier at the Chamundeshwari Residency Lodge (bar and restaurant) in the locality. Even after quitting his job at the bar, he used to visit there every now and then for a drink. On Wednesday evening, when he was at the bar, two of his friends, Lokesh and Girish, entered the place and the three got sloshed.

An argument broke out between them over payment of the bill, Vijay Kumar teased Girish by calling him a limp. This led to a fight among the three and Lokesh and Girish took Vijay Kumar some distance away from the bar, smashed his head with a concrete block and passed out near the body. Locals informed the police, who arrived at the spot and ar rested Lokesh and Girish.
