Bengaluru: Amid the hike in the electricity tariffs, hotels in the city increased the prices of food and beverages. The revised price of food stands at Rs 70 against Rs 50 in some hotels, with prices of beverages like coffee and Tea too being increased by five rupees.

The decision comes after the ruling Congress government excluded commercial usage in the Gruha Jyothi scheme and allowed free electricity for up to 200 units for each household. Besides, the prices of dairy products in the state are also likely to shoot up to Rs 5 per liter.

According to the KMF’s Chairman, it is said that a proposal was submitted to increase the price to the Chief Minister, citing the farmers suffering from losses as the reason for it.
