Ganja worth Rs 10 lakh seized from interstate peddler

Bengaluru: The city police arrested an interstate drug peddler and seized ganja worth Rs 10 lakh from him. The Cottonpet police in Bengaluru on Friday said they have arrested Vantala Seetar a m , 5 5 , who allegedly smuggled ganja from Andhra Pradesh and peddled it here.
According to the police, they received a tip about Seetaram, a resident of Araku Valley taluk in Visakhapatnam, from another accused arrested in a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act case. He informed the police that an unknown person from Andhra Pradesh smuggled ganja (marijuana) to Bengaluru. The police then kept a watch on Seetaram’s movements. On June 24, the investigating officials found that Seetaram would bring the drugs on a train from Andhra Pradesh.
They set up a team in and around the railway station in Bengaluru and caught Seetaram red-handed on the road next to the station’s back gate. When inquired, Seetaram confessed that he possessed Ganja. Seetaram was subsequently arrested and the police seized ganja weighing 20 kg. A case has been booked under the NDPS Act, the police said.
