Discover rich culture, history of Hakki Pikki

Bengaluru: Experience the lifestyle of the Hakki Pikki, The Global Nomads of Karnataka, a free event will be held on Sunday, July 16th at 6 pm at the Bangalore International Center to discuss the Hakki Pikki tribespeople of Karnataka.
The Hakki Pikki are a semi-nomadic tribe who have traditionally travelled to Africa to trade and collect medicinal plants. In April of this year, members of the tribe were stranded in Sudan when a civil war broke out in that country.
The event will feature a screening of the documentary "The Global Nomads of Karnataka" followed by a discussion with the film's director, Madhu Bhushan.
Bhushan is an independent activist, writer, and researcher who has been working with the Hakki Pikki for many years. He will discuss the tribe's history, culture, and current situation.
The event will also feature readings by Kumuda B, a writer, and Rajeshwari, a poet. Both authors have written about the Hakki Pikki in their work. The event is free and open to the public.

Madhu Bhushan is an independent activist, writer and researcher, who has worked as a full-time women’s rights activist as part of Vimochana, a forum for women’s rights.
