Bengaluru: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday announced ‘Mukhyamantri’ Chandru as the new president of their Karnataka wing, replacing Prithvi Reddy.
Reddy on the other hand has been moved to the post of national joint secretary. Moreover, BT Naganna has been named as the AAP State Organisation Secretary (South).
Meanwhile, Arjun Halagigoudar was announced as the new State Organisation Secretary (North) for the party. Chandru who gets the moniker ‘ Mukhyamantri ’ (Chief Minister) from a play wherein he played the titular role has been a member of the Janata Party, BJP, Congress and later AAP.
He had announced retirement from electoral politics but said he'd joined AAP because he believed in the vision of party chief Arvind Kejriwal.
The changes come in the backdrop of the party facing a drubbing in the May 10 Assembly polls wherein they won zero seats.
