Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has appointed its new membersecretary days after a power struggle within the board. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Subhas Chandra has been transferred as member-secretary of the KSPCB with immediate effect.
The transfer followed JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy’s charges that Rs 500 crore had changed hands due to omissions and commissions in the board.
Former MemberSecretary, KSPCB, Suri Payala, an IT manager, was given charge of the position amid questions over his qualifications for the job and now has been removed from the post.
According to sources the Forest, Ecology and Environment department are likely to order an inquiry into the issue to stem irregularities.
