Double engine govt failed in Manipur: Activists

Bengaluru: The Karnataka unit of All India Students Association (Aisa) on Saturday gathered in large numbers to protest against the violence and sexual harassment of the people of Manipur, at Town Hall in Bengaluru.
Their protest came a day after the civil society, activists, the public and students organised a similar agitation. In their agitation, the students demanded the resignation of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh over violence in the state.
The students held placards with sayings against the union and the state governments. They raised slogans condemning the heinous acts in the state.
They said the gang-rape of two Kuki women happened on May 4 and lamented that the incident came to limelight only in July, as there was a complete Internet blockade in the state.
Saying zero police action was taken on the issues, the student body also alleged the double engine sarkar had failed the people.
Students from Delhi, on Friday, took to the streets to protest against the violence, in which they also condemned the statement of Manipur CM in which he called the people of the state outsiders and tribals.
