Discussion about infighting with high command would send a bad message; Cong all set for LS polls: Experts

Bengaluru: Delegates including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have gone to Delhi to meet the party’s high command on Tuesday and have triggered speculations that the party may discuss the dissent among its leaders in Karnataka.
However, political experts ruled this out and said the party is all set for the upcoming Lok Sabha election and the meeting was on the same and about winning a majority of seats.
A few ministers in the Congress had flagged the party and ministers for not providing enough funds to their constituencies. Notably, MLC Hariprasad had warned the party of repercussions in the following days and said he can make and bring down CMs.
Similarly, BR Patil, another leader said he would resign from his post if his self-respect was questioned by the party. However, amid the backdrop of this, CM Siddaramaiah, Jagadish Shettar, and Laxman Savadi hold a meeting with the party’s high command, which includes AICC President Mallikarjune Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.
While Shivanand Patil said the meeting was not to discuss the infightings, political experts stressed why the party may not discuss the same. Muzaffar Azadi, a senior political analyst told News Trail that the INDIA alliance has the chance of winning the LS election, and if the Congress discusses dissents, it will send a bad message and would impact the number of seats they win.
“The moment Congress starts to discuss it, it will send a bad message and create an impact on the local outcome. The dissent will be addressed inside the party once the Ministers start releasing funds to MLAs. The issue was not against the CM but against the few Ministers and they won’t take this to high command”, he said.
While the party lacks strong candidates for the LS polls, other political experts also voiced that it might give the seats to Jagadish Shettar and PV Mohan in the Mangaluru constituency but not to Laxman Savadi as he faces issues.
Candidates who contested last time and lost the race are now ministers and MLAs in the party
