I’m a strong contender for LS poll ticket: Pramod Madhwaraj of BJP

Bengaluru: Former Fisheries Minister and ex-Congress leader Pramod Madhwaraj said he is a strong contender for the LS poll ticket for the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency under the BJP ticket.

“I will work for the BJP till my last breath and I’m a strong contender”, he said addressing the media at his residence.

However, he also said that he was unaware of the ticket and added that he would work to win the elections. He joined the BJP a few months ago but has not been awarded any posting by the BJP.

His comments come at a time there are speculations that the BJP would field MP Sobha Karandlaje in the UdupiChikkamag aluru constituency.

While he expressed his interest in contesting the upcoming LS election, he also said that he would work for the candidate if he was not given the seat.

“The INDIA alliances have no answer for who would be the Prime Ministerial candidate and the alliance will collapse if they announce it now. They will not declare it until the end of the elections”, he took a jibe at the INDIA alliance.

He added that he never regretted leaving Congress to join the BJP and said Congress will never win any seats in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
