Bengaluru: A few days after a biker was made to clear 40 pending traffic violation challans on the spot, a police officer caught another biker with a total of 46 violations pending on his two-wheeler in the city on Wednesday.
The person was caught near Thalaghattapura police limits and Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) shared the image where he was seen holding the long pending challan in his hand.
Sharing a post on X, Bengaluru police wrote, "Traffic violation cases – 46. Fine amount Rs 13,850."
The BTP also mentioned the vehicle registration number. The fine for a total of 46 violations was pending on the bike, and police made the man pay the dues on the spot.
The total dues of Rs 13,850 were collected from him, said Bengaluru police. Bengaluru police have been cracking down on those who have not cleared such dues despite there being a discount scheme on traffic penalties.
Recently, an officer from the same traffic police station caught a biker who had 40 pending cases on his two-wheeler. The cops made him pay the fine of Rs 12,000, which was pending for long, and shared an image of him on social media.
So as not to disrupt traffic movement, cops have been directed not to stop vehicles – as long as the driver is following all rules. The move is said to be benefiting those who do not clear pending fines as they go unchecked.
Responding to the BTP's post on X, netizens have recommended that the police consider cancelling the driving licence of repeat violators. While a user wrote, "After 10 violations, there should be an arrest warrant. Such people should not be driving/ riding."
Another user said, "46 violations and licence not cancelled? This leniency creates rogues on roads."
Bengaluru Traffic Police recently introduced an Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) in the city to detect traffic violations and issue challans to violators.
The AI system detects violations of speed limit, jumping a signal, riding without a helmet, triple riding and using a mobile phone while driving.
