Bengaluru: A Division Bench of the Karnataka High Court, which heard the habeas corpus petition of cow vigilante Puneeth, in which he sought that the court quash an order of the Bengaluru City Police commissioner to take him into custody as well as orders issued by the state government under the Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act, 2000 on August 17, issued notices to the top cop and the state government, instructing the respondents to file objections before the court adjourns the case.

Puneeth has been booked under the Goonda Act for his alleged involvement in antisocial and criminal activities, and disturbing harmony in society.

He is also the primary accused in the murder of cattle transporter Idrees Pasha, whom he allegedly killed, claiming he transported cattle illegally.

The self-proclaimed Hindutva activist has formed an unofficial organisation called Rashtra Raksha Pade.
