Bengaluru: After waiting for a fortnight, the Ramanagara traffic police have buried the bodies of the two bike lifters who had died in a road accident near Ramanagara. The police were unable to identify the bodies despite efforts. After getting the postmortem done at the RR Nagar hospital’s mortuary, they were buried in Ramanagara.
However, the police have kept the clothes, footwear and other items of the deceased, and collected DNA samples, in case somebody comes to claim their bodies.
The two were killed on December 1 while they were fleeing after stealing a bike. After the theft, the accused were heading to Bengaluru and had already traveled almost 80 kilometres.
The police suspect they may have panicked in front of the Ramanagar police station and increased the speed. They hit the road median, and died on the spot. The pictures of the bike lifters were sent to all the police stations in the nearby districts. Since they are bike thieves, the Ramanagara police checked the database of the criminals so that they could inform the family members.
When the accident happened, the police had checked the details of the blue colour Pulsar bike, assuming that one of the deceased could be its owner. They were shocked to know that both the deceased are bike thieves, as the owner had filed a theft complaint at the Pandavapura police station in Mandya.
