The essence of Bharatanatyam reflects in 'Pahchan'

Bengaluru: In the heart of India's cultural hub, Karnataka, a mesmerizing event unfolded on August 30 at the Bangalore International Centre.

The event, named 'Pahachan,' showcased not just dance but also a unique dialogue between dancers, skillfully brought to life by Tanya Saxena.

Tanya Saxena, a dedicated Bharatanatyam dancer hailing from Delhi, enthralled the audience with her performance. She chose Bharatanatyam as the perfect medium to portray the multifaceted lives and characteristics of performers in a single act.

Having extensively studied under revered Gurus such as Saroja Vaidyanathan, Rama Vaidyanathan, Kamalini Dutt, and A. Lakshamanswamy, Tanya is a true connoisseur of her art.

Her training spans Natya Shastra, Carnatic music, Nattuvangam, and theater, shaping her into a versatile artist. Tanya's performances have graced stages worldwide.

Notable among these are 'Les Flutes Enchantes,' presented by Alliance Francaise, 'Yami,' performed at Sangeet Natak Akademi Thrissur, and appearances at Indiana University.

Her talent also extended to a performance for the Bangladeshi delegation to India at Rashtrapati Bhawan. An accomplished artist, Tanya holds a Master’s in Performing Arts and is empaneled with the ICCR.

Her excellence is also reflected in her A-Grade artist status with Doordarshan, India.

Passionate about sharing her art, Tanya engages with children through workshops with the non-profit organization Spicmacay and teaches dance at her studio in Gurgaon.

The live performance was a symphony of languages as Tanya dramatized and narrated throughout. Her expressive gestures and unwavering energy kept the audience entranced.

The classical melodies underscored the philosophy behind her dance and dialogue, bringing each phase to life.

Beyond a two-hour spectacle, the event projected an artist's journey, encapsulating the struggle and joy of assuming a completely different persona for those precious moments.

Bangalore was treated to an enchanting evening, rich in cultural significance and ending on a sagacious note.
