Ramanagara: A housewife allegedly took her own life after recording a video in which she accused a police officer of harassing her. The woman was identified as Madhuri, 31, a resident of Channapatna town.
A probe revealed that the woman had consumed sleeping tablets after which she was taken to Mandya Institute Of Medical Sciences (Mims) hospital by her family.
However she died on Sunday evening without responding to the treatment. Sources from the Channapatna Town Police Station told News Trail that the deceased had visited the police after she had a dispute with another woman.
It is alleged that Madhuri had a clash with another woman named Jyothi over a financial matter. After a quarrel, Madhuri visited Channapatna Town police to file a complaint against Jyothi which the police refused to accept.
Besides, sources said that there were already cases filed against Madhuri herself. Feeling humiliated, the woman recorded a video accusing inaction from a police officer attached to Channapatna Town Police Station before allegedly consuming the pills.
The family and the relatives of the deceased visited Ramanagara Superintendent of Police (SP) Karthik Reddy demanding a probe.
